APPAG is an all-party group of MPs and Peers in the Palace of Westminster with an interest in archaeology. The aim of APPAG is to further an understanding of archaeology in Parliament and promote archaeology and archaeological education. The group is chaired by the notable archaeologist Lord Renfrew of Kaimsthorn. Its Secretary is Lord Redesdale.

In 2003 the group prepared a report on the state of British archaeology, following a call for submissions. This can be downloaded, and a summary of the issues raised is produced on this site. APPAG supports the proposals and objectives set out in Archaeology Enriches us All - The Archaeology Forum (TAF)'s manifesto for archaeology.

APPAG Advisory Group

The APPAG Advisory Group meets bi-monthly and is formed of archaeologists with an interest in Parliament and advocacy. The aim of the Advisory Group is to advise on priorities for APPAG, help take these forward and arrange relevant events for APPAG members. The Secretary is Dr Mike Heyworth (on behalf of The Archaeology Forum, which provides administrative support to APPAG).
